Does this play demonstrate the idea that fate controls our lives or that free will determines our desting?

I think it all depends on your point of view. I can see how the answer would be yes. Since Romeo and Juliet were %26quot;star crossed lovers%26quot; from the beginning, it was in the cards it wasn%26#039;t going to work out. However, you could also see it as changing destiny as the two families decide not to feud anymore after their deaths. I think the play focuses more on the fate part.
