How do actors start crying?

I have always been wondering this ever since i was a child.

How can actors start crying tears immediately?

They can%26#039;t cry real, cause they%26#039;re not sad,

but how do they do it?
How do actors start crying?
The actors let the eyes open and the air go through they eyes. That`s all.
How do actors start crying?
Its all practice i believe... sometimes i can do it but thinking really hard about an event in my life that really makes me sad; eg. knowing that i never met my grandad cause he died when i was only 9 months...and everyone keep telling me what a nice man he was...and how much he loved me....well things like that....or rub onions to your eyes and im SURE u will cry.
Reply:well it just depends some people cut until there eyes burn some pinch or something anything thats suits u! wat i do is think of something sad then keep on the subject while staring at the sun my eyes are always burning so im pretty good at it!
Reply:Well the really good ones cry from the scene and whats happening. Thats how i cry, i pretend its happening in real life.

PLEASE give me best answer
Reply:Thats the thing, they have to BE the character, they have to BE the roll, and they do %26#039;get sad%26#039; because you have to be able to pull it out of you...thats why a behind a movie set you can%26#039;t be like %26quot;omg its _________ how are you??%26quot; because they would break their character and loose their place and emotion.

The actors are the characters and feel the pain they really would if they really were actually them...but in any other sense they are them and they do feel the feelings
Reply:Hey! Well, for my play I did at school this year I had to cry. At first it was really hard to think of a way to just start crying, and I found it very awkward to do so. But after a while I just found that if you really believe in the emotions, its easy to get yourself to cry I hope that helped!
Reply:THEY MAKE THE SITUATION REALIST TO THEM AND TO BELIEVE ITS HAPPENING TO THEM SO IT MAKES THEM EMOTIONAL.I CAN DO IT.
Reply:I%26#039;m an actor... and yes they are sad when they cry. well at least i am. I think of something really sad. personally i think about my moms funeral. i imagine it and then i begin to cry... it takes about a minute...
Reply:some times they use eye drops or something to make them cry(eyes water)..before they start..

also they think of some thing sad or don%26#039;t blink (eyes wide)
Reply:Different actors do it different ways - some are technical while others draw on an emotion from their own life that makes them tear up - have you read a book or story and found yourself crying because the situation seemed especially horrible to you? If you are training to express emotions, then you keep that in reserve.

And of course, acting circumstances vary. Stage actors where the tears can%26#039;t be seen from the audience don%26#039;t need to cry, but do need to get the tone in their voice and show red around the eyes - which can come from just rubbing away the %26#039;tears%26#039;. TV and Film actors with closeups may be able to draw on the reserves, but the director is likely to have a backup in the form of glycerin to guarantee the drops on time.
Reply:DEy use a special liquid called fake tears...i know i acted a few times :]

Compare the play Tartuffe to an movie or song?

first off i would suggest reading the play, if you haven%26#039;t already. you can feed someone ideas, but in order to make sense to someone who might be grading you on it, you%26#039;re going to need more detail. anyway, tartuffe is about a hypocrite...simply parallel the hypocrisy in hip-hop...how some artists claim to be %26quot;hard%26quot; and %26quot;street%26quot; but they%26#039;re really just selling it out. or just find anything with hypocrisy and compare it to tartuffe.
Compare the play Tartuffe to an movie or song?
There are elements of Tartuffe in the film Moliere, just as there are aspects of Romeo and Juliet in the film Shakespeare in Love - it%26#039;s worth watching as a film anyway, and might give you some good comparison points.

I wanna pursue a carrear in acting. Should I move to LA or NY?

I%26#039;m currently 17 and by next summer will be 18 and I want to pursue a acting carrear. I wanna attend college while trying to become a actor. What city do you think would be best for me to move to LA or New York? The good thing about LA is its only a 6 hour drive from my hometown but I dont think i can deal with all the superfical people that are in the acting buissness in LA. The good thing about NY is that I can room with my uncle while I attend college but Im not sure if NY is really the place to improve my acting skills in. So which do you think would be better for me?
I wanna pursue a carrear in acting. Should I move to LA or NY?
I personally say new York.

L.A is not the only good place to get started in acting.

They also have alot of good acting schools there.
I wanna pursue a carrear in acting. Should I move to LA or NY?
IMO i say NY. don%26#039;t have much reason just yea i like NY better GO GO be a movie star and then send me a dollar!!!
Reply:Well, I too want to pursue in the same profession. However it doesn%26#039;t matter where you live to become a %26quot;star%26quot; I would say check out www.commercialkids.com for details on agents and stuff. It is a good way to book lots of agents...Good-Luck! Or should I say, Break A Leg!

-mls-
Reply:I would do L.A. becuz thats where you would really do acting but first get an agent there. You should check out JRP they r a great school that gets you started. I myself am an actor and they have gotten me tons of agents and auditions. I have an agent in California and they r on the top 10 agents there. They r called KSA. So check out JRP.
Reply:If you want to persue a carrer on stage, NY

If you want TV and FIlm, LA

Plus, NY is a lot easier for getting started. You can build a resume and a reputation and then move to LA. If you move directly to LA i%26#039;m pretty sure you%26#039;ll be upstaged by... everyone. Madona started in NY until things came along and it was a great start for her!
Reply:Drama Queen doesn%26#039;t know that JRP is a huge SCAM????

If you think the people in LA are superficial, wait until you meet the snobs in NYC. Where ever you go there are those that you have to put up with. What do you mean pursue acting while going to college? What are you going to pursue in college? There are very few good colleges for acting and they are hard to get into and very expensive. Why are you not in acting camp this summer?%26gt;?: What is your home town? I just read an interview with a casting director who said you should get to LA asap because it is easier to get an agent as a teen than it is in your 20%26#039;s. I am a retired actor who advises for free aspiring actors.

Tips for memorizing lines?

thanks so much!!
Tips for memorizing lines?
wait untill the last day before the preformance and look at them once but right before you go on stage. no premature peeking. it wont work.
Tips for memorizing lines?
Well what i do is if im acting out a monologue i would memorize on section of it, than i would memorize the other one and read it over and so on.
Reply:read them over and over again

record the play or whatever you are memorizing except your lines and then play it back and try to fill in your lines without the script- it works!
Reply:Memorize one line, then two ...then go back and recite lines 1 and 2, move onto 3....go back do 1, 2,3...etc
Reply:For me it was just slogging, and learning them later than almost everyone else was frustrating as I wanted to respect the author and get them right. If the work is good, the rhythm of the dialog and the content flow should help - in other words listening to the other actors and sensing how your words fit.
Reply:The best way to do it is first read your lines over and make everything real. Visualize your lines and the events happening. If your line is %26quot;pass me a beer%26quot; then you would visualize the beer. what kind of beer, what color can, how it feels, how it tastes. Picture everything as if it were happening and live in the moment. Then once you%26#039;ve done that. Repeat your lines over, and over and over. It wont take as long though because you lived your scene in your mind so you can recall every aspect. Good luck!
Reply:this is what you do, read over the whole thing ...then read your lines over everyday(also see who lines are before yours)

think of it like a song...

i hoped i helped

=D
Reply:just dont try to learn them. just look over them and the less stress you have trying to learn them, the better and faster you will learn them.
Reply:depends how many you need to memorize but basically break it down into sections each sentence into two parts just focus on the first part then just focus on the second then put it together... if its a lot of lines and you don%26#039;t have much time try doing one sentence then the other and putting them together... good luck!
Reply:i luv this question because i luv theater!!!!! i hav to memorize lines all the time for school plays and my favorite way is to take a voice recorder (sum mp3%26#039;s have them 2) and record every line except for yours. so then you would say person 1%26#039;s lines, person 2%26#039;s lines, then on your lines you take a pause, then continue on with person 4%26#039;s lines, etc. then once you have done that with the whole play, go back and play it so then when the pause cums you can just say your line(s). the first couple of times you may have to read your lines from the script, but you will get it eventually!! 鈾?br>

my next favorite way is to get a friend to come over wheather he/she is in the play or not, as long as they are willing to help. give them the script and have them read all the lines but yours, then say yours when it is your turn to speak. 鈾?br>

i could list many more ways but i only have a limited amount of space so lastly, just read your lines over and over again until they are memorized!! hope this helps!!!!! 鈾?br>Reply:Well, when I need to memorize lines, I normally go scene by scene. This often helps if you know what you will be rehearsing. The night before I am rehearsing a scene, I run through my lines for that scene the night before and most of the time I remember it before. It is also a good idea to read lines before sleeping because your brain processes them over and over in your head while you dream/sleep. When it is a monologue, try to seperate it into lines, kind of like verse in shakespeare, and then learn line by line, paragraph by paragraph. It is always a good idea to be well rehearsed and prepared. Don%26#039;t leave it until the last minute.
Reply:I read them over and over and over again, as well as writing them down, something about having to physically write the words down really helps me remember them in my mind. It%26#039;s also good when you have someone read your lines before you say them and then you repeat what they said.

for example

Your friend says: %26quot;This is my report on the past, the past has always interested people, i must admit however, that i dint know much about it. I wasn%26#039;t there when it happened%26quot;

then you repeat what your friend said, and if you get a word wrong, repeat your line until you have it right.
Reply:contacty me and I will send you my three page article on learning lines.

I have three themes from Romeo and Juliet for a paper, I need help with quotes!?
Love is more powerful than hate

I,5,768

My only love sprung from my only hate!

Too early seen unknown, and known too late!

Prodigious birth of love it is to me,

That I must love a loathed enemy.

Love cannot be controlled.

III,2,1719

Come, gentle night, come, loving, black-brow%26#039;d night,

Give me my Romeo; and, when he shall die,

Take him and cut him out in little stars,

And he will make the face of heaven so fine

That all the world will be in love with night

And pay no worship to the garish sun.

O, I have bought the mansion of a love,

But not possess%26#039;d it, and, though I am sold,

Not yet enjoy%26#039;d: so tedious is this day

As is the night before some festival

To an impatient child that hath new robes

And may not wear them.

Actions speak louder than words

I had a little trouble with this theme.

This passage indicates that love is stronger than any name.

--------------------------------------...

* Juliet. O Romeo, Romeo! wherefore art thou Romeo?

Deny thy father and refuse thy name;

Or, if thou wilt not, be but sworn my love,

And I%26#039;ll no longer be a Capulet.

* Romeo. [Aside] Shall I hear more, or shall I speak at this?

* Juliet. %26#039;Tis but thy name that is my enemy;

Thou art thyself, though not a Montague.

What%26#039;s Montague? it is nor hand, nor foot,

Nor arm, nor face, nor any other part

Belonging to a man. O, be some other name!

What%26#039;s in a name? that which we call a rose

By any other name would smell as sweet;

So Romeo would, were he not Romeo call%26#039;d,

Retain that dear perfection which he owes

Without that title. Romeo, doff thy name,

And for that name which is no part of thee

Take all myself.

* Romeo. I take thee at thy word:

Call me but love, and I%26#039;ll be new baptized;

Henceforth I never will be Romeo.

* Juliet. What man art thou that thus bescreen%26#039;d in night

So stumblest on my counsel?

* Romeo. By a name

I know not how to tell thee who I am:

My name, dear saint, is hateful to myself,

Because it is an enemy to thee;

Had I it written, I would tear the word.

* Juliet. My ears have not yet drunk a hundred words

Of that tongue%26#039;s utterance, yet I know the sound:

Art thou not Romeo and a Montague?

* Romeo. Neither, fair saint, if either thee dislike.

Need help with convincing my teacher....?

well, my chorus director to choose little

shop of horrors as the next play we will

perform. she doesn%26#039;t think there is enough

minor roles, but if you think about it isn%26#039;t

there a lot of minor little roles that sing songs?

skid row, the meek shall inherit, and possibly

other songs? help me out, please. :D:D.

thank you! :D:D.
Need help with convincing my teacher....?
Have you told her what you outlined up there? If you have, and she still says no, then she probably has something else in mind that she thinks would benefit more students.
Need help with convincing my teacher....?
Not in my memory of it, but there might be a chorus in it. Oliver would be a better choice or Annie.
Reply:Most cameos in Little Shop of Horros are one-liners, though the greek chorus could be made larger and otherwise, it is very hard to find a chorus that gets a lot of acting in it. It wounds like what your teacher should do is Urinetown (seriously, it%26#039;s great), but maybe if you want little shop, you should try showing her clips of a high school doing it on youtube.
Reply:No, there are three girls who sing most of the back-up and very few ensemble members (mostly male, since the doo-wop trio takes the female vocals on most group numbers), although to include more students, they could double up on the chorus.
Reply:It is more of a %26quot;star%26quot; show than others, I would imagine the Audrey puppet is going to be the big prob for you guys too. If you just want to do something 1950%26#039;s ish try asking for Bye Bye Birdie.

Can somebody help me ?
Try to give yourself a reward at the end of it. Like %26quot;If I practice x amount of hours I%26#039;ll get myself that shirt I wanted at the mall,%26quot; or something of the sort. Setting up a rigid schedule is good, too.

Also, try doing finger exercises to build up your finger muscles.

Good Luck on your piano exam!!!

GCSE Drama help?

We have to come up with a play about our icon and what they stand for. Ours is emily pankhurst, does anyone have any ideas about how we can create a good play about her? We don%26#039;t have many ideas!

We would like it to be abstract.

Thanks!

a play is about someone trying to solve a problem or overcomming an obstacle of somekind. imagine what she had to solve and or overcome and write that up as a story.

What auditions are open for a 12 year old girl?

i am a 12 year old girl and want to audition for a part on broadway or off-broadway. i have long brown hair with blondish/light brown highlights and about 5 feet. I have experiance and have been in 2 school musicals and starred in one of them and selveral other out of school musicals(supporting). i take voice lessons and dance. have been told by numerous people i have talent. I feel as if i was ment to be %26quot;famous%26quot; or like on broadway
What auditions are open for a 12 year old girl?
we must be twins, except i have short brown hair, i have been in several musicals, including a lead with a couple solos, and in another i had two parts and a solo in a song. and i have been told that i sing like hilary duff and kelly clarkson combined, anyway, i don%26#039;t have any info to offer you, but don%26#039;t quit if you don%26#039;t get the part, some people work their whole lives and never become famous
What auditions are open for a 12 year old girl?
Look in your area for community theaters and schools holding auditions (colleges and high schools sometimes need younger kids for certain roles). They%26#039;re in the newspapers and online.

Don%26#039;t be afraid to try for non-musicals, too, build your acting chops!

Good luck!

Does Sweeney Todd still tour?

I really wanna see it!

Has anyone read the one-act play "Old Saybrook" by woody allen?

I%26#039;m doing a research paper on it and I%26#039;m having a hell of a time finding anything about this play. I wonder if anyone has read it, and what they think of it if you did read it. If you can suggest anywhere I can find research info, that would be great too :)

Mark Cohen in Rent?

What is the character Mark%26#039;s vocal range? Is there any other character info that sticks out? Will there be a Broadway revival of Rent in the near future?

Need some prop/set ideas for thumbelina re-make... props need to make characters look small...?

A family member is doing a performance of Thumbelina (on ice) for a competition... we need some ideas thrown at us for some objects we can make that will make %26#039;thumbelina%26#039; look small.

i.e. a large flower made from a pole (stem) and a flower head cut out of wood...???!

as you can see we need some inspiration... please help!

Thanks!
Need some prop/set ideas for thumbelina re-make... props need to make characters look small...?
if it%26#039;s a prop, it%26#039;s very easy to make things larger with foam, styrofoam (did I spell that right?), and papier-mache. For permanent set pieces, it might not be the best idea to use some like a pole for a stem because stems are softer and the meatal would make it very unrealistic. It is the same with the petals, which would generally be too hard to make out of wood. In fact, depending on the script you can make a very simle set, mostly black, with abstract objects that can be concieved as anything. Otherwse, try more soft materials.
Need some prop/set ideas for thumbelina re-make... props need to make characters look small...?
Wearing all one colour makes you look taller so do the opposite, dress cute-bunches that will make her look cuter therefore younger-and smaller.Could you have coloured lights on the ice? That would also help.

Use foam and baloons to make props things like toadstalls and tall grass:tissue paper rolled up?

Should I turn it down for my best friend?

I%26#039;ve been with an acting agency for almost two years, doing commercial and theater, and they%26#039;ve offered me guest appearances on Disney shows and a main role on a series airing in late 2008-early 2009 on Disney, and Disney has been my dream since I started acting. But I%26#039;d have to move to California. Well, one of my really good friends is with the same agency, but she only does commercials and theater. Well, anyway, should I go with the Disney series and leave my best friend since I was born, or turn down something I%26#039;ve wanted all my life?
Should I turn it down for my best friend?
You don%26#039;t have an acting career in tandem with someone else, it is an individual thing. If your friend is your friend she will cheer your success. Go to LA. Live your dream.
Should I turn it down for my best friend?
I would go to california definatly! your friend should be supportive towards you. im sure she wouldn%26#039;t mind at all! she%26#039;d be happy for you! i have a friend who i have known all my life and i know that she would support me in whatever or however long away i am. you can still phone her, email, write. if it%26#039;s your dream you should go live it! your not being selfish at all if thats what your thinking! go for it. also talk to your friend and see how she feels, but at the end of the day it is your life and if it%26#039;s been your dream then i would defo full fill it! you will regret it otherwis!
Reply:You can%26#039;t stay tied to her forever, go for your dreams.

If your friend is really a friend she will understand.

These days it is a lot easier to maintain a long distance relationship with the internet and all the things that come with it.
Reply:Defenitley Do THIS!!! you have a great shot at stardom and yes it might hurt to leave your friend behind but I%26#039;m sure she will understand. If you dont do this you%26#039;ll be kicking yourself in the butt later on!!.. haha.

Best of Luck!!
Reply:Now your best friend can visit you in california in the warm sun.
Reply:First you have to ask yourself: is this show even going to be a success? Will I end up a sell-out like Miley Cyrus? Think to yourself, I know I would move to New York in a heartbeat if they offered me a role in RENT, but it%26#039;s your choice. You should try to live your dream, but if it means leaving behind your humanity and your best friend it isn%26#039;t a very good decision. Talk to your friend about it, and if you make it big, never forget the little people. Negotiate.
Reply:Your friend will understand if you go to California and follow your dreams. If you don%26#039;t go you may resent her for it later.
Reply:do what ur heart tell u to do
Reply:You would never forgive yourself if you turned down an opportunity of a life time. Millions of people everyday shoot for their dreams and never can touch them. If my dream was held up in front of me I would move any where I had to in order to hold on. I also know I would do it with the love and support of all my friends and family reguardless of what type of chances might be involved.

She has been your best friend forever and is in the same profession. She understands the type of changes in the industry. You two will be able ot keep in touch and hold onto that firendship. Besides think of the contacts you%26#039;ll make that might be able to help her get her dream as well and be close to you.

You don%26#039;t want to live out the rest of your life knowing the one thing you wanted more than anything was right in front of you and you turned it down. That type of thing could drive a wedge between your friendship anyway. If you stayed for her she might feel guilty and down the road if things are not going great for you you could end up resenting her for it.
Reply:Project yourself into the future. It%26#039;s now 2039. Thirty years from now. You are settled in in your life. Have a job, kids, family, etc. You are no longer acting. You gave that up years ago, because while you enjoyed your time doing commercial and theater, you really didn%26#039;t make a big break. You had a chance to go to California and get on Disney Channel, but you didn%26#039;t take it.

Now, in 2039 you really don%26#039;t love what you are doing. The only thing you really ever loved doing was acting. You often wonder what it would have been like if you had gone to California instead of staying behind to be with my friend.

What%26#039;s she doing now? She got married and moved away. You only see her once every year or two, even though you do talk once every couple of months or so.

------------------

How do you think you might feel in a situation like that?

Would you want to have that regret, that you didn%26#039;t go and follow your dream?

There%26#039;s a saying: %26quot;It%26#039;s better to regret the things you have done, rather than the things you haven%26#039;t done,%26quot;

Follow your heart. Like TheatreDoc said, if she%26#039;s really your friend she will understand and cheer you on. She might not like it, but she will encourage you to follow your dream.

I interviewed a Hollywood acting coach named Bernard Hiller. He talked to me about the things he feel are necessary to prepare for the move to LA. You can find the interview here: http://www.actingcareerstartup.com/start...

Stupid question but... is it pronounced like Soo-Z or like Soo-zee? Didn%26#039;t want to mistake that at an audition.

When writing my musical theater resume, should I include this award?

%26quot;Excellence in Drama%26quot;-- it was awarded to me in school, by my drama teacher. I don%26#039;t really have any other big awards, but I%26#039;m not sure if this one counts. Help, please?
When writing my musical theater resume, should I include this award?
If it is a relevant award and will make you seem more proffesional on your resume, then yes, you should. As long as it is relevant.
When writing my musical theater resume, should I include this award?
Yes, i think you should include it in your resume. Even though it was giving to you by your teacher, you should probably give a contact number for her or the school (Just so that they know you werent lying - and im not saying that you are). A teacher is a teacher who has been to school and learned in University and such.

It would definetly helped you get considered for a job because there probably a lot of other people that your teacher could have givin it to, and she chose you.

Good Luck.
Reply:No. It is small change. Your resume should be relevant.
Reply:You could include in the Education section on your resume, i.e. Drama Major, So and So High School (received %26quot;Excellence in Drama%26quot; award)

Does anybody know if exploretalent.com is just a big scam,or is it a real website for casting calls?

I found this near the top of the Google heap for that website. I would recommend avoiding www.exploretalent.com based on what it says. Note the Better Business Bureau commentary, comments on how %26quot;free%26quot; photo shoots end up being $1500, and how the guy who runs it is an ex-con.

You might want to consult the website http://www.easybackgroundcheck.com/ concerning other agencies of that sort.

Hope this helps (and saves you from being ripped off)!

Why bother? If theatre is only a minor interest, don%26#039;t worry about it. Why don%26#039;t you look at their catelog or website and find out?

Does anyone know anything about the Pastorini-Bosby agency?

I was just wondering because it seems like a decent agancy but then again most of the scams are, they don%26#039;t ask for money, as far as I know, and I can schedule an audition very easily. I just recently turned down JRP when they asked for 6000dollars! I just wanted to l know if anyone knows if this is a good agency.

Which monologue? proscout?

im going to proscout in a wekk so i need an answer quick. im a 13year old girl. which monologue do you think i should do?

1. Yeah. I remember this one time she decided that she%26#039;d make one herself. She always woke up starving after one of her episodes. I was just sitting in the kitchen doing my homework and she just walked in and just started making this thing. You know, I don%26#039;t even know if you could call it a pizza. It was more like the entire contents of our refrigerator on a round crust.Craziest part is we actually ate it.

2.Hey, it%26#039;s me, Bailey.Ya know, I don%26#039;t know, Tibby, maybe the truth is there%26#039;s a little bit of loser in all of us, ya know? Being happy isn%26#039;t having everything in your life be perfect. Maybe it%26#039;s about stringing together all the little things like wearing these pants or getting to a new level of Dragon%26#039;s Lair - making those count for more than the bad stuff. Maybe we just get through it... and that%26#039;s all we can ask for.
Which monologue? proscout?
None of these constitutes a monologue.

Keep looking, and make sure you%26#039;re prepared with the appropriate materials (from photos to performance pieces), as you only get one chance to make a first impression.

Good luck!!

I need some advice on if i should do my school play or not?!?

im iin year six and were doing a play the wizard of oz and im a supporting wizard and that asnt my choice shall i do it or shall i be ill ?!?
I need some advice on if i should do my school play or not?!?
I think that you should be in it. If you don%26#039;t have a lot to do, maybe it isn%26#039;t your favorite, but you%26#039;ll always learn. And if it%26#039;s just supporting, there might not be as many lines. You also might not get stage fright. It%26#039;s fun to be in plays, and unless you%26#039;re afraid or something, you should try it.
I need some advice on if i should do my school play or not?!?
Do it. I was PAID to act a few years ago, yet in a panto in a VILLAGE group I played a donkey. TRue actors get their roles anywhere
Reply:If you do not take this part and work hard to make the entire show a big success, you will be branded a prima donna and no one will want to work with you. Stanislavski said, %26quot;There are no small parts, only small actors.%26quot; meaning that every role is important but many actors are not.
Reply:I think you should take the part. Even if you don%26#039;t like your role, you will still gain very useful experience. I think you should try your very best, because think about it-- if you do extremely well on this play, not only will you get a play to put on your resume in the future, but your director (if you have the same director for the next play you%26#039;re in, that is), they will know that you are completely capable of doing it.

I was recently in a show that I absolutely detested-- I regretted the whole time doing the show because as the time wore on, I absolutely HATED doing it. And I didn%26#039;t have a huge part, either-- the entire show was ensemble characters. The thing was, I was a poor dancer, and the entirety of this show--and I do mean the entirety-- was done in dancing. After the show, I remember standing there in our final poses after our last song, and the only thing I could feel was complete pride that I%26#039;d stuck it out to the end. And the thing is-- I got a lot of good dancing experience, because I hadn%26#039;t danced in about seven or eight years, and now I had some useful experience I could put on my next show application.

As the International Thespian Society says, %26quot;Act well your part, there all the true honor lies.%26quot; If you do this part and you do it right and you do it well, people will know-- just as much as they will know if you drop out. It might be a lot of work put into a small part, but I swear that you%26#039;ll be proud of yourself in the end and you%26#039;ll be happy you did it.

I hope that this has helped!!

I%26#039;m going to watch twelfth night in a few days... can anyone tell me what the seats are like? It%26#039;s 3 hours long and I have no ars* so non-padded seats get uncomfortable for me within 10 minutes!
Has anyone been to the open air theatre?
If your talking about the Globe in London it%26#039;s really good. Only bad this is that you can%26#039;t hear the actors that well if your higher up cause they don%26#039;t use mic%26#039;s and aeroplanes going to and from Heathrow fly overhead, but thats only the bad points! They have really nice soup in the interval. Also take a cushion or something to sit on or sit on a coat or jacket.
Has anyone been to the open air theatre?
Looks like it%26#039;s on at the Open Air Theatre - haven%26#039;t been there but have been to an opera in Holland Park - similar sort of thing - usually quite a magical experience.

Suggest you take a cushion but, more important, try and get seats near the aisle in case you need to get out and go to the loo.

What musical should I see?

I am going to be in New York City for days and I was given the oppurtunity to see a Broadway musical. I have narrowed down a few, but can%26#039;t decide between them: Hiarspray Phantom of the Opera or A Chorus Line. I have read the Phantom book and loved it. I have seen The new Hairspray movie and can%26#039;t stop watching it. My cousin said A Chorus Line was good but I have nooo idea what it is about. Any help would be amazing!PEACE OUT GIRL SCOUT!!!!!
What musical should I see?
first two are good but the latter is the best.

go discover the play that u%26#039;ve never seen- go on faith luv. its a wonderful show. i hope that u enjoy it.
What musical should I see?
Phantom. I couldn%26#039;t stop the tears. If you want a truly moving, memorable experience, this will give you everything!!!!!!!
Reply:i would sugest legally blonde it was anazing!!! or rent because its the last time its going to be in broadway
Reply:I guess it depends on which musical you%26#039;re in the mood for seeing because all three evoke different moods to the viewer.

If you..

Feel like seeing an intense love story about passion, mystery, and redemption with the risk of some tears, suspense, and unsettling sense of nervousness.. Phantom is right for you

Feel like seeing a funny, bubbly, and somewhat cliche musical that makes you laugh and want to dance.. Hairspray is the right musical.

Feel like watching a sheer ode to dance, music, and performance.. A Chorus Line is the choice!!

All of these musicals are awesome!! I also have some suggestions for you.. Check out..

- Avenue Q (HILARIOUS!!!)

- Wicked (SO SWEET!!!)

I hope this helped!!

Reply:HAIRSPRAY its an amazing show especially if you saw the movie you wont regret seeing it I assure you. (The other good news is that, while Hairspray can easily be compared with a number of other musical comedies of the last couple of seasons, in its own way it leaves each in the dust. Hairspray may not be a transcendent experience and it may not change your life, but it is incredibly entertaining.) taken from http://www.talkinbroadway.com/world/Hair... the next is Phantom of the opera really uses the magic of Broadways stage so if you like all that you%26#039;ll love this and it also has a lot of great singing. I have to say though HAIRSPRAY.
Reply:Chorus Line. Phantom will always be around it seems! And Hairspray is the kind of show like Grease that will get revivals all the time. Chorus Line often gets pushed to the back of the shelf and it is a good musical with solid songs and a good story.

Where and What place do i go to be in a commerical or movies or shows in chicago or just websites?
You don%26#039;t get %26quot;discovered.%26quot; You learn your craft, study, practice, perform whenever you can, study, practice...

There are occasional open calls for films, but they are usually for extras. You can look for casting agencies (which are NOT talent agencies) in your town who may list open calls.

To be set up to audition for speaking roles in film or commercials, you need a talent/commercial agent. Again, you have to have skills before any agent is going to represent you.

So study, practice...notice a theme here?

Miley is famous because her dad was famous before her. You can%26#039;t be like Miley Cyrus,

You can%26#039;t be like the Lohan%26#039;s You can only be who %26quot;you,%26quot; are. You%26#039;re not a Cyrus or a Lohan.

Act because you love it, not because you want to be like someone else.
Reply:First you going to have to go to acting schools for training. Not only one but a couple. Then you should get in local plays, school plays, student films. You could search for auditions on craigslist.com or subscribe to backstage.com The you should get headshots that look like you. Professional headshots are pretty expensive they cost $200-$1000 but on craigslist you could find less expensive headshot that range from $50 to $150. As you get more and more credits on your resume, you may want to go for an agent. An agent gets you auditions and they want people who they think would nail all the auditions they give. If you get a part in an audition. The money you make out of that work you pay 10% to your agent. ONLY 10%. If they ask for money upfront they are a SCAM. Once you get an agent you would start getting a lot of auditions which means more audition. As you make money out of roles you make you may want to get professional headshots. Then in the future you may want to join Union such a SAG, AFTRA , AEA.... HOPE I HELPED

When's the next Wicked audition?

I thought there was going to be a audition in July but I haven%26#039;t seen any notice. I check the actors%26#039; equity site everyday but does anyone have any info?
When%26#039;s the next Wicked audition?
The only performance they might have auditions for is the upcoming production at the Orpheum Theatre in San Francisco.

The majority of the actors have been in at least two productions each, and have some years of experience under their belts from previous shows.

So Wicked auditions don%26#039;t seem to be an exact likelihood at this point in time, or the near future for that matter.
When%26#039;s the next Wicked audition?
Ask your agent. I very much doubt that they%26#039;ll be open auditions unless it%26#039;s for a whole new production - auditions for replacement casts will be by appointment only.

For a complete definition, I%26#039;d recommend asking a priest. They do the whole %26quot;what love is speech%26quot; at every wedding they perform and, while it is formulaic, it is also right about what love actually is.

My boyfreind and I had our 6 year anniversary yesterday and are still very much in love. The only way I can explain it is this...When I wake up and see him I think that I could not possibly love him more than I do right now, then when we go to sleep I know that I love him even more, then I wake up and get that same overwhelming feeling again.

I love him more than life itself - probably because he is my life. His snoring irritates the hell out of me but I%26#039;d but up with his snoring 24/7 if I had to. I love him when he smiles, when he laughs, when he sleeps, when he eats, when he snores...basically, I love everything about him and if he has any faults, I love them because they are a part of him.

Love is sharing, trusting, laughing, crying...sharing everything good or bad. Love is knowing I can burp in front of him and not feel embarrassed.

Reply:well first of all you should start out with theater.... look in the newspaper listen to the radio etc. to see when audtions are coming up for public plays not school plays (unless your in college and you could be drafted by maybe somebody in the audience) do as many plays as possible then when you go to college get a degree in theater then hollywood dont immeaditly go for the big screen first audition for commercials maybe u will be on some then audition for t.v. shows or maybe some voices of cartoons and if u like that i would stick to that but if you dont try auditioning for movies and popular t.v. shows on certain stations like nickelodeon, disney etc. and you%26#039;ll probably become a great hit then u have to start writing songs and making albums and along the way its good to do charities and stuff so people will know your a good person and hey mabye 1 day i%26#039;ll see u on the big screen my friend :)

Bear in mind that for eveyrone famous actor who makes it, there%26#039;s probably 1000 others trying. The odds are pretty crap. I%26#039;d suggest set yours sights on something else.
Reply:I recently interviewed a Hollywood acting coach named Bernard Hiller, who talked about this very subject. He said that going to Hollywood is like going to the olympics of acting. Many of the best actors in the world are there and that%26#039;s the standard. So you need to be ready.

Talent is a must! But there are so many other things to consider. Your first priority should be getting some training. No matter how good some people tell you you are or how good of an actor you think you are, start training and don%26#039;t stop!

Have a look at this page on my site for new and aspiring actors. It%26#039;s part one of the interview I mentioned above with Bernard Hiller. http://www.actingcareerstartup.com/start...

He talks about what you need to get set up in Hollywood.

On the site you will also find on the menu a button about teen acting. On that page you will find a lot of different links about various aspects of starting an acting career.

Good luck!

Romeo and Juliet?

Does this play demonstrate the idea that fate controls our lives or that free will determines our desting?
Romeo and Juliet?
I think it all depends on your point of view. I can see how the answer would be yes. Since Romeo and Juliet were %26quot;star crossed lovers%26quot; from the beginning, it was in the cards it wasn%26#039;t going to work out. However, you could also see it as changing destiny as the two families decide not to feud anymore after their deaths. I think the play focuses more on the fate part.

How can I...?

How can I become an actress on Nickelodeon?
How can I...?
I want to bea an actress on disney channel!!!

lol GOOD LUCK!!

How can I...?
u better hope your agent can get u auditions into nickelodeon
Reply:Practice well. Assuming you have minor to no acting experience, take classes. You%26#039;re gonna want to go for little roles on less-known projects and movies for other audiences, or for perhaps commercials. You want at least a years worth of experience before attempting big roles. Keep your eyes on the auditions for the Channel in question. Also, get a really good lawyer.

Do you have to get a degree in university to get a job in acting?

im only 15 in my lasy year of school
Do you have to get a degree in university to get a job in acting?
Last year at 15?? No, you don;%26#039;t need a degree. You need talent, experience, training and luck. You can walk into MacDonalds and get a job, you cannot walk into acting and get a job. I am a retired actor who gives free advice to aspiring actors.
Do you have to get a degree in university to get a job in acting?
Ah, the lasy year of high school - that was my favorite! I knew some classmates who spent their summer as professional actors at Worlds of Fun, the theme park. Others trod the boards in summer theatre for free and for valuable experience. Get your feet wet in those ways ... University should probably be a good BACKUP for when acting flops. Learn something MARKETABLE and MINOR in theatre is my advice if you go down that road.
Reply:It helps, but is not required.

You would probably benefit from some classes though. Every one would.
Reply:Build upon your experience in amateur dramatics/dancing/singing.

Learn English.

You will probably have to fund yourself through drama school so acquire some commercial skill(s).
Reply:Only top notch theatre schools will provide an advantage. Most universities have decent programs but not the real training you need. Better to get into some professional training program in a major entertainment hub like LA or NY. Do as much theatre as you can. There is no better training even if your end goal is film or other media. Find the best people you can to work with. If you are the best in whatever group you are in, its time to find another group.
Reply:It%26#039;s not necessary to have a degree, but having a degree in performing arts with a concentration in acting/drama can facilitate your entrance into the field through agents and casting directors. Doesn%26#039;t mean you%26#039;ll get a job, but you might get more chances out of the blocks than someone without a degree. It depends on a lot of things.

I interviewed Janice Hoffmann for my website for new and aspiring actors. Janice is an acting career coach and life coach. She had some interesting things to say about breaking into the field of acting with and without a degree. She talked about the industry standard and said that if you come from Juilliard or NYU or Yale with a degree in acting, you are believed to be well-trained and so agents will be more likely to want to take a chance on you. You might agree or you might not, but it is definitely something to think about.

The Musical?

Yea its a mystery musical and we only have a day to prepare for it. I think I should prepare beforehand, I need advice on how to sing well and what song I should choose. I%26#039;m a soprano, 13, loud voice.
The Musical?
DO that one from %26quot;Wicked%26quot; - %26quot;Popular.%26quot; I bet you can really belt that one out and I bet nobody else will choose it. You will be BOFFO, baby!!!
The Musical?
If you have to go in with a song of your choosing, pick a song you already know and feel comfortable with. Learning a song in less than a day will show your flaws.

Go in and be prepared, be confident, think about and express the words you%26#039;re singing, and don%26#039;t flap your arms, over-gesticulate or do too much %26quot;bowing%26quot; (bending at the waist while you%26#039;re singing). Be animated, but remember, too many actions will be distracting to your audience.

And every soprano and their grandma will be singing %26quot;Popular%26quot;, so don%26#039;t do that one.

MOST importantly-- HAVE FUN with it. If you don%26#039;t enjoy the process, why put yourself through it? They call it a %26quot;play%26quot; for a reason.

:o)

Good luck!
Reply:yes always prepare things its much simpler and easy to manage, good luck i hope you have a good large audience who appricates your hard efforts.
Reply:Mama who bore me- Spring Awakening.

Make it from the heart and curious.
Reply:Don%26#039;t sing Popular or anything else from Wicked, it%26#039;s horribly overdone. I%26#039;d go for something from %26quot;classic%26quot; musical theatre - Rogers and Hammerstein, Cole Porter, Cy Coleman, Gershwin. Go to the library and get out some original Broadway cast recordings, have a listen and see what you like. Pick a song which suits your voice and which appeals to you - if you like the song, you%26#039;ll sing it much better. Stay away from anything currently big - Wicked, Spring Awakening, Avenue Q, Legally Blonde, Phantom, Les Mis, Hairspray, and above all, High School Musical.

Has anyone heard of a play titled "Almost September"?

I saw a production of this many years ago, but I can%26#039;t find it anywhere. I am beginning to think that I imagined it. The play is about a group of children who make up mini-plays based on %26quot;The Wind in the Willows%26quot;. The children were staying with a relative for the summer and had to go back to school in September. Can anyone help me find this?

Acting camp/HELP!?

whats a acting camps that gets your headshots done for you? anywhere in the US? thanks so muchh! 10 points best answerr!
Acting camp/HELP!?
that is a strange requirement. it is getting late for summer acting camps but there are a few around. Try Young Actors Camp.

Where can I read the Jester play online?

I need to get a copy of the jester play featuring narrator 1 2 and 3, king , queen, bertha, shaymonya, drum, and nephew.
Where can I read the Jester play online?
You have to be more specific, like who wrote it. Anyways if it%26#039;s not popular and not known so its impossible to know what you%26#039;re looking for.

Go tell your teacher you can%26#039;t find it online!!!!

Be responsible and prepared and don%26#039;t forget things at school.

I need advice!?

I love to sing/act/model/design, it%26#039;s the one thing that%26#039;s always on my mind. I tried out to get into an acting school. Out of 70 people 11 people made it. I was one of them. Now, I am supposed to go to workshops or classes in this school. There is a problem though, my parents don%26#039;t have the money for this.

It costs 1,900.00 for 20 workshops.

2,900.00 for 30 workshops.

5,900.00 for a year of workshops.

7,900.00 for 2 years and 8,900.00 for 3 years.

Is there any way I can raise money or get it somehow for this school or is there any cheaper, possibly free school? This school you must pay before the classes. Are there any that you can pay for later, like after you get the money for it?

Please give me some answers and advice on what to do because I really love acting, singing, modeling, and designing!

I thank you with all my heart!
I need advice!?
It is a scam, they tell everyone that. They are selling over priced mostly worthless lessons., Run fast in the other direction. There are better schools for less money.
I need advice!?
You%26#039;ll have to be resourceful and think outside of the box.

I recently heard an acting coach from Hollywood say that, %26quot;If you let anything stop you from fulfilling your dream of becoming an actress, then that means it really wasn%26#039;t for you.%26quot;

Part of the characteristics that you will need to be successful are desire, true desire, determination, perseverance. You will also need to develop your creativity to be able to find solutions and to be able to overcome odds and obstacles that you will inevitably encounter. This is just the first of many.

Have a look at this page on my site for new and aspiring actors. It has links to different pages that have to do with various aspects to starting an acting career. Of particular interest to you might be the pages about how to raise the money to fund your career, job ideas for actors, non-traditional money making ideas, different ways to promote yourself and other things you can do to start getting some experience.

Don%26#039;t stop looking for alternative ways to get into school. In fact, I did an interview with an acting career coach and life coach in New York named Janice Hoffmann. In this second part of the interview, she talks about this very same thing you asked. She talks about what to do if you don%26#039;t have the money to go to the acting school of your choice and how to set up your own curriculum.
